The Bay Area Society for Art & Activism is an operationally-light nonprofit collective and a fiscally-sponsored project of San Francisco’s historic SOMArts Cultural Center. Its mission is to cultivate art and activism as a vital regional value and to provide opportunities and resources to artists and activists.

Founded in 2013, by Elizabeth Travelslight and a community of local artists and activists, the Bay Area Society for Art & Activism is a diverse and intergenerational community celebrating the way artists and activists engage with issues of social justice, hope, freedom, history, democracy, love, labor, class, the environment and more.
